The Bertoia Sonambient® Theater
| Generally, as people come to visit Bertoia Studio, they are first attracted by (Harry Bertoia) my father's work of this simplified outline: |
 | 1950's Chair designing for the Knoll Group, international early sculptures including; Solar color-reflective, balancing kinetic, and block-panel screens. |
1960's Bronze-pebbled sculptural surfaces, bronze spill castings, welded-bronze forms leading to large scale fountain sculptures.
1970's Harry and Val made hundreds of sounding sculptures, including vertical rods on base plates, gongs, and suspended vertical bars. The vinyl LP-records of these sounds were made in the 70's.
1980's The CD's were made of the original recordings of 70's. Also, the various books (about Harry Bertoia's drawings) were made available. Val became manager of Bertoia Studio, and from the 70's continued building his wind-driven generators, as well as bronze sculptures.
1990's The sculptural field continues successfully, and is now introduced online. Val and team continue to make sculptures for indoors and larger ones for outdoors. Val establishes the Ecological Sculpture Pathway (ESP) for visitors to heal themselves by walking in Nature that contains humorous and beautiful sculptures. |
